SAUSAGE AND VEGETABLE SKILLET

I’ve been in love with this simple Sausage vegetable SSkillet.I’ve been making it at least weekly. It’s not chopping required, and it’s made with just two ingredients: incredibly filling, bursting with flavor and color, and is the perfect meal preparation! Additionally, it’s very adaptable and can take on many substitutes and additions!

WHAT’S IN THE SAUSAGE AND VEGETABLE SKILLET?

This dish results from me searching my freezer and fridge to find whatever was left and throwing it all into the skillet. And wouldn’t you know that it was delicious! The main ingredients are some meat that has been seasoned (in this case, sausage), frozen cauliflower, frozen onions and peppers, frozen kale, and your preferred seasoning.

WHAT KIND OF MEAT TO USE

Selecting cooked meat that has been seasoned to ensure the most excellent flavor is essential. In the pictures here, I’ve employed Italian sausage. However, you can also use chorizo or leftover Chili Rubbed Pulled Pork. If you plan to make this using plain ground meat (turkey or chicken, pork or beef), you must season the meat during cooking and season the pan at the end.

WHAT ELSE CAN I ADD?

Add other frozen veggies, like corn, broccoli, and peas. You can also try adding potatoes or beans to increase the volume. Another method to bulk it up is to add more vegetable portions (you might want to up the seasoning if you decide to do this).

Extra toppings can be enjoyable, such as a fried egg avocado, sour cream, avocado cheese, salsa, or any other dressing or sauce you enjoy. What about me? I prefer to keep it simple and eat it just as it is!

HOW TO SERVE SAUSAGE AND VEGETABLES

I’ve been enjoying this dish as it is straight from the sSkillethowever, if you’d like to make it even more, serve it with potatoes or rice. A bit of Garlic Bread would also go well for this meal!

INGREDIENTS

One tablespoon cooking oil ($0.04)

1 lb. Italian sausage ($5.99)

1/2 lb. frozen cauliflower pieces ($1.00)

1/2 lb. frozen onions and peppers ($1.00)

1/4 lb. frozen kale ($0.83)

1/2 tsp of seasoning salt or a seasoning blend (or to your taste) ($0.05)

INSTRUCTIONS

The cooking oil, sausage, and the pan. Cook the sausage on medium-high heat until brown and crisp.

Add the cauliflower, peppers, and onions to the skillet and the sausage. Continue stirring and cooking until the veggies are cooked to the point of being cooked.

Sprinkle a generous amount (or according to your preference) of your preferred seasoning salts or mix of seasonings and mix to combine. Serve hot.
